Description
Richard Melville Hall, known by his stage name Moby, is a legendary American musician, producer, and pioneer of electronic music. Moby’s life began on September 11, 1965, in Harlem, New York City. His stage name refers to Herman Melville’s novel Moby-Dick, authored by a distant relative of the musician. Moby is 60 years old, but his creative energy and relevance remain undiminished.
Moby’s career took off in the 1990s thanks to his unique blend of electronica, blues, gospel, and rock. His 1999 album Play culminated in the album’s first release, with all tracks licensed for commercials, film, and TV. Moby’s signature songs include «Porcelain,» «Natural Blues,» «Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad?», «Extreme Ways» (from the Dexter soundtrack), and «Go,» one of the first electronic hits on the charts. Moby’s social stance is closely intertwined with his personal life: he is a committed vegan and an advocate for animal rights and environmental causes. In his youth, he professed Christianity and even preached, but later abandoned organized religion, leaving his spiritual quest for creativity behind. He lives in Los Angeles, owns a vegan restaurant, and continues to tour worldwide. Tickets for Moby concerts are available on our website.
